The key to energy management is to make sure you use only the electricity you need and then get the most out of the energy that you are using. Get started by cutting out waste. Turn off equipment that’s not needed. For example, you may be running lights, pumps, conveyors and other equipment that aren’t actually being used. You may also be losing energy through poor maintenance. There may be leaks in your systems that are forcing your equipment to work harder and use more electricity just to maintain required output levels. For example, a one-quarter inch air leak in a compressor system could drain enough energy to run 300 60-watt lamps.
